Assisting Autistic and Special Needs Children

PFL assists autistic and special needs children with a unique and innovative program, with specially chosen therapy pets. The program can be tailored to the needs of the students, and can include:

  • Behavioral regulation
  • Building social connections
  • Motivation to achieve “Calm Body, Calm Voice”
  • Literacy

The pets truly make a difference in promoting appropriate behaviors. The PFL pets are soft, adorable and friendly and the children want to pet and interact with them. In order to do so, they must learn to exhibit self-control and compassion.

This program is a partnership between PFL and the educators, and can be adapted and evolve to meet the changing needs of the students. The visits are offered in both individual and group settings.
